The game is designed to be completed but many players often leave the game for a while
because they cant defeat a boss, which is an open world rpg game (role playing game) which is the purpose.
The game released DLC that kept the game proceeding although the game was a solid 10/10 without the dlc so when the DLC was released it made the game even better. The final DLC ashes of Ariandel concludes the dark souls series as there was originally the release of demon souls that turned into dark souls and then a trilogy, the purpose was just the main dark souls game until fans loved the game that much scholar of the first sin, bloodborne and dark souls 3. The game's purpose was really for the hardcore players who loved the first dark souls, as there's not really as many challenging games out there Bandai namco gained a new loophole for a game that fans adored, a purpose for hardcore players to prove their worth in the dark souls series with bloodborne being a great skill required dark souls 3 was where it's at and scholar of the first sin dark souls 2
The primary language of Dark Souls is difficulty as the game varies that difficulty with the players design that goes into its character builds, sound effects, and environmental design, and with the same purpose to explore as an RPG game solely based on skill to survive the exploration. With a weak character build, survival is hard which dark souls is mostly known for; the difficulty.
in an interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki he quotes that "the game design and game play is strictly how the player makes it out to be"
The original dark souls franchise sold 2,828,000 games just as the first Dark souls game and dark souls 2 sold 2,311,000 games which is obviously a good call to make more of the dark souls series.
